“Ron’s been my guide nearly every other week for three-plus years, come rain, wind, sun or snow. He’s what I’d call a guide’s guide—the epitome of everything you’d want on a fishing trip.  We’ve floated and waded many of the legendary waters of northern NewMexico and southern Colorado.

Ron’s always at my side, not only helping me find and land fish, but ever refining my knowledge and technique. His key focus is now the San Juan River, which never fishes the same way twice—and makes each trip with Ron and Sedall Troutfitters a memorable adventure.  His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm provide everything needed to match your skill set to a great day of fishing.”

“I have fished the San Juan for years, mostly by myself and the various dogs I have loved, but more recently with the help of a guide. Ron has provided me a way to extend my enjoyment of this river even as my balance has become impaired, I have taken at least a dozen trips with Ron down the San Juan.  Each has a special memory. The feeding frenzy and remarkable hatch on our last trip, the osprey who swooped down and took a 18” rainbow back to her nest on the previous one, sight nymphing to a 29” brown that led us half a mile upriver. He has a remarkable eye for seeing trout. Very patient, always kind, and aware of the physical problems some of his older customers now face.  I look forward to every trip.  I think he’s the best.”

“I had an incredible 1/2 day fishing trip with Ron on the San Juan River at Texas Hole.  I was very rusty after not fishing much in the past few years because of having young kids.  Ron was patient, and re-taught me to get my drift right, to cast better, and then how to respond to the fish taking the fly.  In less than an hour, he had me back where I was five years ago, and a few hours later, we had caught dozens of monster rainbows and a few brown trout.  He was fun to fish with, incredibly calm and chill, and just a really good dude.  I highly recommend him for your fishing adventure!  When I come back to New Mexico or Colorado, I will DEFINITELY fish again with Ron and Sedall Troutfitters.”

“For the better part of a decade, Ron Sedall has been our go to guide for fishing in New Mexico and Colorado... Soon, we hope to also embark on a trip to South America where he knows where the big boys hang out as well!
Here are three reasons why I will always go with RON!
1) He knows what he is talking about... his knowledge of the fish and how to catch them is top notch.
2) He is honest. He will not lie to you just for your tip cash!
3) He always finds a way to make it happen! If you want SIZE or NUMBERS, Ron is the guide for you.”

I have fly fished for decades in many places and I believe Ron may be the best trout guide in New Mexico. Several years ago I thought there wasn’t much more to learn from guides but I kept hearing about a great trout guide working out of Taos, Ron Sedall. So we started fishing together several years ago and he proved me wrong. Each trip with Ron is a master class in trout techniques. We have had good trips in all weathers and all water conditions. Ice, snow, rain, flood or low water, Ron can get you into fish. Often a lot of fish. He is expert at strategies for fishing the San Juan in all seasons. Every serious fly fisher owes it to themselves to take a winter float on the Juan with Ron. He is hard working, patient, expert in all aspects of fly fishing and able to teach anglers of all experience levels effectively.

“We have fished with Ron Sedall 4 years in a row, and he works hard all day to make our experience memorable. He knows his stuff and is happy to share his fly fishing knowledge with us neophytes. He is patient and constructive with any criticism and generous with his compliments. He has an easy going personality and good sense of humor. You will enjoy your fishing trip with Ron.”

“Guide Ron Sedall may be the best guide I've had in the past 25 years, incredibly knowledgeable about the local rivers, equipment, and fishing strategy but without being arrogant about it. Also a great ’coach’, patient and encouraging even when your casts are way off the mark. Great experience for myself and my son.”
